Can AI Read Your Fortune? I Asked ChatGPT to Analyze My Saju

🔮 Can AI Read Your Fortune? I Asked ChatGPT to Analyze My Saju
If you’re active on Korean social media, you’ve probably seen people saying:
“You can ask ChatGPT for a fortune reading just by giving your birth date and time!”
Curious, I decided to test it myself.
In Korea, people often use saju (사주팔자)—a form of traditional East Asian fortune telling based on your birthdate—to analyze personality, predict the future, or even check compatibility in relationships.
Some K-pop fans even check their saju compatibility with idols like BLACKPINK or BTS.
Just for fun, of course.
So, I gave it a try: could AI really read my saju?
🗓️ I Gave ChatGPT My Birth Info…
Here’s what I asked ChatGPT:
Born on YYYY/MM/DD at HH:MM AM in [location]. Can you read my saju?
And here’s the kind of result it gave me:

To put it bluntly: it was a total mess.
I was born right before the Lunar New Year.
Saju calculations are based on the lunar calendar, not the solar one.
So for people born around that time, the “year” and “month” values must be adjusted.
But ChatGPT didn’t get that at all.
Even worse, the hour—it was just wrong.
That part should’ve been easy!
And yes, I used the most advanced, paid GPT model available at the time.
After multiple attempts and corrections, I ended up giving ChatGPT my full saju pillars manually.
Only then did it start to make some sense.
🧠 Why Some Say It “Works Well”
Some blog posts and TikToks say, “ChatGPT told me exactly who I am!”
But here’s the catch:
ChatGPT is not actually calculating saju.
- It’s just a large language model trained to mimic patterns in text.
- It doesn’t understand the lunar-to-solar calendar conversion, stem-branch systems (천간지지), or any real saju logic.
- What it does is generate text that “sounds like” a saju reading.
So if it seems accurate, it’s probably because you’re reading something vague enough to feel relatable.
⚠️ If You’re Going to Use AI for Saju Readings…
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. It’s Pattern-Based, Not Magic
Generative AI creates text based on probabilities, not logic.
It’s not predicting your future—it’s giving you the most likely-sounding response.
2. Don’t Make Big Life Decisions Based on AI
Questions like “Should I change jobs?” or “Will I meet my soulmate this year?”
are too human for any AI to answer responsibly.
You are always in charge of your own choices.
3. Be Careful With Personal Data
Your birthdate, birth time, and birthplace are sensitive personal information.
Unless you’re using a private, secure AI setup, it’s best not to submit that data casually.
Tip:
If using ChatGPT, switch to temporary chat mode to avoid having your prompts logged.
💬 Final Thoughts: Fun, But Don’t Take It Too Seriously
AI fortune telling is like chatting with a clever friend who read too many astrology books.
It can be fun and surprisingly accurate-sounding,
but at the end of the day, it’s not real saju.
Enjoy it as a novelty, not a guide for your destiny.
And if you’re a K-pop fan wondering whether you’re destined to marry Jungkook or Rosé…
Yes, you can absolutely test your saju compatibility with them.
Just don’t quit your job based on the result. 😉
